Strobe training (also called Stroboscopic training) with Senaptec Strobe Eyewear is designed to improve the connections between the eye, brain, and body. Strobe training is like resistance training for your visual system.
Much like lifting weights in the gym provides the resistance your body needs to increase strength and power, strobe training provides resistance by disrupting the flow of visual information. This makes your brain work harder to see, track, and react to visual input.
Strobe glasses work by quickly changing the liquid crystal lenses from clear to opaque. This limits visual information and trains your brain to process the visual information more efficiently. Essentially strobe glasses block segments of what you see and force your brain to get progressively better at filling in the gaps.
Strobe glasses are easy to use in the gym, during warm-ups, and while training for Karting/Motorsports.
Why Train with Strobe Glasses?
Research shows that training with strobe glasses improves a host of important visual and neurocognitive skills athletes need to compete at a high level.
Here are a few examples:
Dynamic Visual Acuity
The ability to track objects while either the object itself (another Karter) or the individual is moving.
Visual Processing Speed
The speed at which an athlete can process and interpret visual information to make predictions and then responds on the track.
Anticipatory Timing
The ability to predict where an object (or person) will be at a future point in time (such as where another Karter will be as they approach a corner).
Speed & Accuracy of Movement
The ability to coordinate visual and motor skills (movement) to work optimally within the sport (steering adjustments, reacting to other Karters, hitting an apex).
We have provided Senaptec Strobe glasses to F1 drivers including Carlos Sainz and Esteban Ocon, and they are used to gain a performance edge by most of the Karters on the KAD programme.
